Bill Maher: Obama's Million Dollar Man

What law is being broken? Cop: My law.

A stop on a cross-country pro-life tour didn’t go according to plans for members of Survivors Campus Life Tour when they were arrested in Jackson, Miss., during what the Survivors say was a “lawful pro-life outreach at a public high school.”

The group of pro-life youth activists first attempted to hold signs, distribute literature, and peacefully dialogue with students on a public sidewalk in front of Murrah High School on Monday.

According to attorneys at Life Legal Defense Foundation, “Jackson school police officers immediately confronted the group and moved their signs across the street, sequestered students back inside the school grounds, and ordered students not to take the literature being handed out or speak with the demonstrators.

“The police claimed that the sidewalk belonged to the school and that they had a right to remove the pro-life activists. At the same time, the Survivors observed that the same sidewalk they were denied access to was being used by passersby and joggers.”

When “Survivors,” as they refer to themselves, fan out across the country, making stops at over 200 public high schools each year, they are trained to know their First Amendment rights, and how to obey the strict rule of law, according to the founder of Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust group, Jeff White.

White told WND by phone that this group of young people know the law very well, and don’t violate it, yet occasionally arrests are made by officials unfamiliar with the Constitution.

“The team was on a public sidewalk, open to joggers, walkers, and other citizens, which means they have every right to be there,” White told WND

“Our teams stand on public sidewalks with pro-life signs and literature, and offer it to passing students as they leave school for the day.

“Instead of supporting the constitutional rights of our people, officials in Jackson are clearly violating their First Amendment rights,” White said.

A video taken at the high school shows uniformed officers taking signs from the group and dumping them on the ground across the street from the school.

Consumer Reports Finds Government-Subsidized Fisker Undrivable

Maybe Obama used our money to subsidize production of an electric moonbatmobile in Finland because he thought a higher quality toy for rich liberals would result than if the cars were built in the USA. Then again, maybe a left-wing community organizer just isn’t the right person to put in charge of automobile manufacturing. From Consumer Reports:

Our Fisker Karma cost us $107,850. It is super sleek, high-tech — and now it’s broken.

We have owned our car for just a few days; it has less than 200 miles on its odometer. While doing speedometer calibration runs on our test track (a procedure we do for every test car before putting it in service by driving the car at a constant 65 mph between two measured points), the dashboard flashed a message and sounded a “bing“ showing a major fault. Our technician got the car off the track and put it into Park to go through the owner’s manual to interpret the warning. At that point, the transmission went into Neutral and wouldn’t engage any gear through its electronic shifter except Park and Neutral.

We let the car sit for about an hour and restarted it. We could now engage Drive and the same error message disappeared. After moving it only a few feet the error message reappeared and when we tried to engage Reverse the transmission went straight to Park and again no motion gear could be engaged. After calling the dealer, which is about 100 miles away, they promptly sent a flatbed tow truck to haul away the disabled Fisker.

We buy about 80 cars a year and this is the first time in memory that we have had a car that is undriveable before it has finished our check-in process.

Thought police at Univ. Rochester

From University of Rochester (NY) Professor Stephen E. Landsburg, a blisteringly refreshing view of Sandra Fluke, Rush to Judgment (via Althouse h/t Instapundit):

But while Ms. Fluke herself deserves the same basic respect we owe to any human being, her position — which is what’s at issue here — deserves none whatseover. It deserves only to be ridiculed, mocked and jeered. To treat it with respect would be a travesty. I expect there are respectable arguments for subsidizing contraception (though I am skeptical that there are arguments sufficiently respectable to win me over), but Ms. Fluke made no such argument. All she said, in effect, was that she and others want contraception and they don’t want to pay for it….

But whether or not he chose the right word, what I just don’t get is why the pro-respect crowd is aiming all its fire at Rush. Which is more disrespectful — his harsh language or Sandra Fluke’s attempt to pick your pocket? That seems like a pretty clear call to me.

Ooooohhhhh! Must be rebuked at the highest levels, via Althouse’s post:

Rand Paul Unveils Latest Budget Proposal

Via Conservative Heritage Times

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) has introduced a new FY 2013 budget. Unlike his last effort, which cut exclusively -- though deeply -- from discretionary spending in order to show much could be cut without touching entitlements, this one includes some entitlement reforms. Paul claims his budget:

  • Reduces federal spending by $11 trillion relative to President Obama's budget
  • Balances in five years, within the balanced budget amendment window supported by all 47 Senate Republicans
  • Achieves a $111 billion surplus in FY 2017
  • Eliminates four Cabinet-level departments (Energy, Education, Commerce, and Housing and Urban Development) while privatizing the TSA
  • Freezes foreign aid at $5 billion a year
  • Reduces most discretionary spending to 2008 levels

Obama-Endorsed Libya Violent Rape and Murder of a female French journalist

It is pretty horrific, and concerns the violent rape and murder of a female French journalist recently. The Libyan rapists filmed the ordeal with her camera and uploaded it to the internet. I saw part of the video but it was too shocking to see much. Poor woman. Anyway, it seems it made the news in a small Spanish "right-wing" website (nothing from the MSM).

AD was the only Spanish-language broadcast pictures: Algerian ISP agency confirms the savage rape and murder of a French journalist (hat tip Peter)

March 9, 2012 Obama campaign gets more Air Force aircraft

Via A Trainwreck in Maxwell

The U.S. Air Force is pulling nine cargo aircraft from military operations to support President Barack Obama’s stepped-up visits to campaign events.

The five medium-capacity C-130s and four heavyweight C-17s will be used to ferry security vehicles, armored limousines and communications gear into cities ahead of Obama’s campaign appearances.

In the months before November, the president is expected to fly into multiple cities per week, and speak at multiple sites per day. On Mar. 8, for example, the president will fly to Richmond, and then drive over to a Rolls-Royce aircraft-parts factory. That evening, he’ll fly down to Houston, Texas.

His wife, Vice President Joe Biden and many of his cabinet secretaries are using the Air Force’s fleet of VIP aircraft to visit more states as the election season speeds up.

The nine cargo aircraft will begin operations in April, said Maj. Michelle Lai, communications officer for the Air Force’s 89th Airlift Wing. “They’ll stand down in November 2012,” she said.

PHONEY?

Theo Spark

There was a brief period at the onset of WWII that was called the "Sitzkrieg" and the "Phoney War."
- That was absolutely wrong.

Today we have a phoney "recovery" of MOPE (management of perception economics) that tells us "we're getting better every day, in every way."
- This is just as wrong....no, it is wrong-headed!

Washington, DC is deeply corrupt and if you are waiting for anyone there to 'fix' problems you will be deeply disappointed,
- The federal government is NOT going to save you.
- The career politicians are NOT going to save you.
- You'd better firgure-out how you are going to take care of yourself and your family in the years ahead because right now is as good as things are going to get.

The "recovery" is about to be revealed as a fraud. A scam.
- Then the real pain will begin.

Logistics Considerations for Resistance Forces

The types, quantities, and availability of necessary supplies play an intrinsic part in the capabilities and limitations of resistance forces, as well as the types of missions a given resistance element can successfully perform. Further, an adequate availability of re-supply plays a critical role in the maintenance of all three aspects of a successful resistance. For the active, fighting elements—the paramilitary guerrilla force and the subversive underground—each successful re-supply represents encouragement and reassurance that others are sharing in their struggles and actively supporting their efforts. For the auxiliary and supporting elements of the civilian population, it offers moral encouragement that they are, in fact, actively “doing their part” to assist the movement (thus my constant harping on the logistics support role of the auxiliary).

Historically, many claim that guerrillas “lived off the land.” While true to a degree, it was not in the typical sense most consider when they use the term. Guerrillas didn't historically spend all of their time hunting for meat and foraging for edible wild plants, although both have certainly played a part in the logistics plans of some historical guerrilla resistance movements. Instead, resistance forces have typically, when outside support was unavailable, relied on “taxation” of the civilian population and battlefield recovery. The resources of the country, represented by how well these demands can be filled through these methods, has limited the size of guerrilla bands that could be successfully organized and maintained in a given unconventional warfare operational area (UWOA). Guerrillas have historically had no choice other than to rely on these indigenous resources for re-supply of critical needs.

Limbaugh Rejects Company That Suspended Ads From Show Over Fluke Remarks

Limbaugh Rejects Sleep Train After it Requests to be Advertiser Again
Sleep Train had been an advertiser with Limbaugh for over 25 years.

Rush Limbaugh has rejected an advertiser’s apparent attempt to reunite with his show after the company initially dropped its ads from the program following his remarks about contraception advocate Sandra Fluke.

The company, Sleep Train, calls itself “the No. 1 Bedding Specialist on the West Coast, and most recognized mattress retailer in the region.”

In an email to Sleep Train President Dale Carlsen (obtained by The Blaze), a representative of the show says that Limbaugh personally considered the company’s request, but denied it considering its public comments following the controversy.

“Thank you for your requests last week and this week to restart your voiced endorsement in local markets of The Rush Limbaugh Show,” the email begins. “Rush received your requests personally.”

“Unfortunately, your public comments were not well received by our audience, and did not accurately portray either Rush Limbaugh’s character or the intent of his remarks. Thus, we regret to inform you that Rush will be unable to endorse Sleep Train in the future.

“Rush appreciates your long friendship and your past support, and we wish you good luck in the future.”

Last Friday, Sleep Train was vocal in its rejection of Limbaugh.

Filmmaker Cameron plans record 7-mile ocean dive

A calm James Cameron has broken his own record with the world's deepest solo submarine dive, plunging 5.1 miles (8.2 kilometers) in the Pacific Ocean near Papua New Guinea, the filmmaker said Thursday.

But that's nothing. Later this month he says he plans to descend to the deepest place on Earth.

Cameron is aiming to plunge to the bottom of Challenger Deep in the Mariana Trench of the Pacific Ocean, 200 miles southwest of Guam. It's 6.8 miles (11 kilometers) deep. Humans have been there only once before when a two-man U.S. Navy team went for just 20 minutes in 1960.

The "Avatar" and "Titanic" filmmaker said he wasn't frightened when he dove nearly that far in a practice run Wednesday that lasted 3.5 hours on the bottom.

On Carpet-beggars: Raleigh Daily Sentinel, April 16, 1869

The following Raleigh Sentinel editorial of April 16, 1869 commented at length on the political results of the glorious Union being saved by Northern military forces in 1865.

Bernhard Thuersam, Chairman

North Carolina War Between the States Sesquicentennial Commission

www.ncwbts150.com

"The Official Website of the North Carolina WBTS Sesquicentennial"

Reconstruction Harpies, Carpetbag & Scalawag:

”The history of [Reconstruction] legislation in North Carolina would form one of the strangest books that has ever been published. It would reveal an amount of fraud, venality and recklessness perfectly unparalleled, we venture to say, in the history of legislation in any age or country. If ever before there was a time demanding the most scrupulous and watchful economy, it is the present.

And yet, in the face of wide-spread ruin and dismay; in the face of repeated failures in crops and a disorganized system of labor; with depression and anxiety in every house-hold, the members of the present legislature have exhibited the utmost disregard of the actual condition of our people, and have wantonly and wickedly and with malice pretense concocted a system of taxation, that not only outrages public opinion, but fastens, it may be, for all time, burdens perfectly unbearable and destructive upon the landed proprietors of the State.

These representatives of the people---these public servants “so-called”---these incapable and indifferent legislators, met in Raleigh and deliberately set to work to despoil the State and add ten-fold distress to her people. They enter upon a plan of spoilation as effective in its results as was the “bumming” of Sherman’s scoundrels. They lend themselves to the wild schemes, listen with itching ears to the rapacious demands of wild cat combinations, wink at corruption and profligacy, indulge in vice and immorality, and conspire to paralyze the best interests of the State, to drive away capital, to keep capital from coming into the State and to lay taxes that cannot be borne….Railroad schemes without number, a continued waste of public funds, and taxes at once oppressive and thoroughly ruinous are the results of their six months stay in Raleigh. They have done nothing but evil and are an offense to every just and honest man. They deserve, and they shall receive the hearty execration of a long suffering, industrious and frugal people.

But we refer to those harpies, some from the Northland, but many native “and to the manor born,” who preyed upon our people, and with cormorant appetites essayed to suck the very life-blood from the emaciated form of our old Mother. Carpet-beggars who came unbidden and who have fairly battened upon the political garbage that has been thrown to them; obsequious time-servers and trimmers who have played the sycophants for filthy lucre---these are the creatures who have wickedly conspired against the people of North Carolina, and have sought to ruin them by the most oppressive taxation---these are the creatures who amid the troubling of the political waters have been spawned in our Legislative halls, and who ought to be denounced and shunned as you would a leper. They are political lepers and taint the whole political atmosphere.”

I suspect that Eric Holder, et al will not stop with just seizing the domain names of bit torrent and gambling web sites. With or without SOPA, they are already on the war path against sites "identified with malware", for instance. So what is to stop them from seizing the domain names of sites that they deem "anti-government", or "disseminating information useful to domestic terrorists"? (We call that information preparedness and survival skills, but never underestimate the ability of a biased bureaucrat to cast a wide net.) Let's face it: We have already been identified as "the enemy", folks.
